Thrombosis: The "Other" Central Venous Catheter Problem:

Recognizing the Thrombosis Infection Relationship

Cheryl Kelley RN BSN, VA-BC

When conventional strategies do not reduce central venous catheter (CVC) related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), one needs to look at other explanations. This lecture offers an insight to a serious but often unrecognized problem that predisposes hospitalized patients to CRBSI.

Objectives
1.
Describe current national data related to catheter related thrombosis, including the basis for its occurrence
2.
Define the physiology associated between thrombotic and infectious complications of CVC’s.
3.
Review at least three clinical studies that describe the relationship between CRBSI and CRT.

Location

Holiday Inn Express Elk Grove
W. Stockton Blvd near Hwy 99

Deadline to register is October 24th, no refunds after October 25th.
